Connie Cannon was born in Seoul, Korea, on November 21, 1964. She moved to United States on her 11th birthday. In 1987, Connie earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Apparel Design from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. Happily married with two children, Connie enjoys being a stay-at-home mom and creating abstract paintings in her Carlsbad studio.

As a small child, Connie had always envisioned becoming an artist, however, it wasn’t until she had children of her own; she realized art had chosen her. Connie incorporates action painting, using mixed media in creating warm and vibrant colors, expressing her love for texture in producing her abstract work. Mostly influenced by abstract expressionism, Connie's style of painting expresses her personality purely through the use of form, color, and spontaneity.

Connie states, "Inside the womb we are created, hoping to enter the world safely and peacefully." Raising a daughter with a Brachial Plexus Injury (BPI) has taught her to give more and to follow her passion. BPI occurs mostly during birthing process when a baby's shoulder becomes impacted in a mother's pelvic bone, and pulling on the baby's head permanently paralyzes the baby's shoulder, arm, and/or hand. Connie is dedicated to bring awareness to an injury that she believes is predictable and preventable. Some of Connie Cannon’s abstract pieces are titled and dedicated to children with brachial plexus injuries; reflecting the bonding between mothers and babies.

Connie's numerous television appearances include KUSI 9, KNSD 7 News, and CNN Headline News and articles published in North County Times, San Diego Union-Tribune, Coast News, Vision Magazine, and Exceptional Parent Magazine.

As a founder and director of San Diego Women Artists Group, Connie actively participates as a member of COVA (Combined Organization for the Visual Arts), Escondido Arts Partnership (EAP), San Diego Museum of Art (SDMA) and Artists Guild, San Diego Art Institute (SDAI), San Diego Visual Arts Network (SDVAN), Second City Arts Council of Long Beach, and Berkley Art Center.  She also taught Art Masters Program at Pacific Rim Elementary School in Carlsbad, CA and currently provides commissioned artwork for private home collections. Her upcoming shows include Members Only show at Berkeley Art Center, Berkeley, CA and Spanish Village Gallery 21 in the Summer 2005 with San Diego Women Artists Group.
